Superyacht interiors are complex environments. They bring together designers, engineers, craftsmen, suppliers and build teams — each with their own expertise, expectations and pressures. When these worlds align, the result is exceptional. When they don’t, even the smallest detail can become a challenge. This is where I  contribute.

In superyacht interiors, design and engineering must evolve together. From my interior/exterior background, I help align casco, mechanical and electrical systems teams early in the process, so spatial choices, structure and systems reinforce each other instead of colliding later. This concurrent way of working brings clarity, reduces rework and keeps momentum — ensuring that what we imagine can be built even better.

Projectmanagement and the human factor

I am Kees‑Sjeng van Roosmalen, project manager and design consultant with more than twenty years of experience in the superyacht industry. My background spans people management, design, engineering and hands‑on construction. That combination allows me to understand not only what needs to be built, but also how teams work, communicate and make decisions together. I support shipyards, design studios and suppliers in keeping complex interior projects organised, structured and moving forward. I bring calm where pressure rises, clarity where information becomes scattered, and alignment where disciplines need to work as one. My approach is grounded in the human side of project management. When communication is clear and expectations are aligned, the technical work follows naturally.

Interim Project Management

Support when a project needs stability, direction or renewed momentum. I step in at any stage — early concept, mid‑process or during critical phases — to restore clarity, structure and collaboration. I manage expectations, streamline communication and ensure decisions are made with the right information at the right time.

Design Consultancy

Guidance in translating design intent into solutions that work in practice. I help design studios and shipyards refine concepts, resolve technical challenges and maintain the integrity of the original vision. My focus is on feasibility, buildability and the smooth integration of design and engineering.

Technical Expertise

Hands‑on understanding of materials, construction methods and interior outfitting. I support engineering teams, furniture makers and suppliers with practical insights that prevent issues later in the process. From reviewing drawings to coordinating details on the workshop floor, I help ensure that what is designed can be built — and built well.
